Fashion Innovation Centre is developing a proof of concept that could transform how apparel patterns are used in manufacturing. By combining digital pattern technology with Apple Vision Pro.
Paper patterns and markers can be replaced with full-scale mixed-reality projections displayed directly on fabric.
Fabric typically accounts for more than 50% of garment manufacturing costs, and digital pattern projection can improve fabric utilization by up to 4%, while saving time in cutting and sampling, reducing time to market, and decreasing paper waste and environmental impact.
